UFC 69: Preview
Expect another furious night of blood, sweat, victory and defeat as UFC 69: Shootout hits your screens on Sunday April 9th, exclusively on Bravo. Touching down in Texas for the first time, UFC 69 will bring you another night of massive mixed martial arts face-offs that are sure to get your lycra shorts in a twist.
After a devastating victory against Matt Hughes, Welterweight Champion George St-Pierre will defend his title for the first time, coming up against Matt Serra. Keen to turn things up a notch after a less than convincing win over Chris Lytle, Serra won’t take this once-in-a-lifetime chance lightly. “I’m ready to go to war, one way or the other,” says ‘The Terror’ Serra. “He’s in for a fight.” But St-Pierre isn’t underestimating his opponent, despite Serra’s underdog status. “I’m going to train like I’ve never trained before,” says the Canadian champ. “I never take any opponent lightly.”
In another massive fixture on this fight card, Diego Sanchez and Josh Koscheck will go head-to-head in their long-awaited rematch, facing off for a shot at the welterweight title. Having clashed in one of toughest fights from the first season of The Ultimate Fighter, when Koscheck’s wrestling style was bettered by Sanchez’s superior MMA skills, they are now two of the top fighters in their weight division. The two fighters have a lot of bad blood between them, with Koscheck reporting: “I want to give Diego a good beating. I do not like him. I do not like anything about him.” With an unprotected record to protect, don’t expect Sanchez to go down easy…
